About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Proven ability to manage portfolios, P\&L responsibility, and execute structured deals.

  • Commercial mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Fluency in more than one language is advantageous.

    About the Role
    We have a requirement for individuals with a strong background and experience in forestry and carbon who can oversee and support our project investments, making sure we understand the latest production/volume forecasts and the overall project health and risk profile. The role will focus heavily on the technical aspects of projects but also the project plan, resourcing, project related costs and risk management.

    Responsibilities

    • Project oversight and direction to ensure projects in the portfolio meet the Silvania investment and management criteria to deliver value, high quality credits (where applicable) and nature positive outcomes.
    • Oversee projects in the Silvania portfolio in terms of the expected deliverables via the review of:
      • project calculations and forecasts of expected credits, compliance with the crediting program requirements and methodology, and the project risks
      • key projects documents such as verification findings and reports
      • on site activities that generate credits such as reforestation, restoration or protection
      • project timelines and budgets
      • the project management framework to identify and manage risks associated with environmental and social aspects
    • Ensure that the Silvania internal management systems best reflect the project status, progress, forecast and risk by updating systems that feed into periodic reporting.
    • Work with local project developers to oversee projects or aggregations of projects, assisting the technical and quality systems development of the company.
    • Provide pre-investment due diligence reviews following the Silvania Investment Criteria, Policies and Impact Criteria, identifying risk mitigation actions and plans.
    • Conduct site visits to review project activities and recommend actions to improve the project and reduce risks.
    • Support marketing and sales via the provision of project details and technical insights including supporting the achievement of project ratings.
    • Support to the Silvania team via analytical reviews of technical aspects of projects or programs.

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Forestry, ecology, natural/environmental sciences background.
    • 10+ years of project development or assessment experience.
    • A professional background in conservation projects or investments with a focus on delivering returns via physical commodities or credits in compliance/ voluntary markets.
    • Project development experience including planning site activities, crediting and oversight.
    • A working knowledge of carbon credit programs and natural climate solution methodologies including aspects of eligibility, integrity, carbon accounting, calculations and reporting.
    • Knowledge of emerging biodiversity credit standards an advantage.
    • Experience of working on or assisting with validations and verifications, working with assurance firms to respond to findings and expedite projects through to crediting.
    • Experience of working with different stakeholders including government departments, local communities, service providers and market participants.
    • The ability to drive the quality, integrity and transparency of the projects in the Silvania portfolio.
    • Project management experience (project plans, budgets and contracts).

      About the Role
      We have a requirement for an individual with a background in carbon projects who can work centrally to ensure that our nature-based portfolio information and management systems are maintained to enable efficient and accurate reporting. With a good knowledge of project development and nature-based solutions, this person will work with originators, project managers and sales staff and help build out our systems and processes.

      Responsibilities

      • The Silvania Portfolio Coordinator is a London based role to ensure that the information across all projects and assets is current and feeds into the Silvania management system, enabling accurate oversight and management across the investment portfolio.
      • Review key systems in terms of forecasts and expected deliveries, working with Project Managers and/or Originators to ensure the system is maintained to the required standard.
      • Work with other functions of Silvania to ensure the natural climate solutions project information flows into reporting and that the portfolio volumes, value and risk profile is both current and accurate.
      • Providing operational support to the business related to credit generation and delivery.
      • Assist Project Managers and Originators with the review of contract deliverables.
      • Assist with the oversight and reporting of the Silvania assets including the in-country project development companies.
      • Oversee the core systems that are used to house the portfolio and pipeline data and information.
      • Deliver periodic reports and commentary.
      • Assist in the sales and marketing process by providing system outputs (e.g. volumes, delivery dates, credit types) as well as key documents (e.g. verification reports).
      • Work closely with the Mercuria Portfolio Coordinator to align information flows and information between Silvania and the Environmental Products team within Mercuria.
      • Assist Project Managers with the management of natural climate solutions projects or development companies via analytical support, review of forecasts, maintenance of project timelines and project plans.

      Required Skills & Experience

      • Strong organisational, coordination and communication skills demonstrated via roles within project teams.
      • Carbon market natural climate solutions experience including working with project developers, auditors and program administrators.
      • Awareness of crediting programs and the project processes required to move projects through to issuance of credits.
      • Experience of managing large quantities of information to generate concise and accurate reports to support the management of a portfolio.
      • Developing and working with management systems and process to deliver efficient but effective controls and systems with a focus on quality.
      • Experience with impact criteria reporting an advantage.
      • Candidates must be fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Spanish is a strong advantage.
