MOBILISING CAPITAL FOR BRAZILIAN FORESTS

Race to Belém

Launched at Davos in early 2025, Race to Belém was a campaign initiated by Silvania alongside Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, and We Mean Business Coalition — a catalyst to mobilise private sector finance and accelerate landscape-scale forest protection ahead of COP30 in Belém.

Through a global convening series and sustained advocacy, the campaign brought the Amazon and Cerrado to the forefront of climate finance discussions — positioning nature investments as a credible, high-integrity asset class and inspiring other Brazilian states to explore large-scale forest protection programmes.

What we achieved

Introduced the State of Tocantins as the first Brazilian state to issue Jurisdictional REDD+ credits — a pioneering example of systemic forest protection at scale

Built a coalition of global businesses, conservation NGOs, leading banks, and five Brazilian state governors working together on landscape-scale climate action

IC-VCM Core Carbon Principles are raising quality standards and eliminating low-integrity supply — rewarding rigorous developers

Raised awareness of Jurisdictional REDD+ to the point that Brazil’s Minister of the Environment began referencing it in speeches and it was covered by O Globo and Valor Econômico

Demonstrated that protecting a standing forest is more economically valuable than cutting it down — influencing corporate leaders, investors, and policymakers worldwide

Our Story with David Attenborough

An immersive journey through the story of people and planet

Silvania is a proud supporter of Our Story with David Attenborough — the Natural History Museum’s first-ever immersive experience, opened in June 2025. Produced by Open Planet Studios, it has welcomed over 150,000 visitors from around the world.

“In this new immersive experience at the Natural History Museum, we explore two stories — the 4-billion-year epic of the Earth, and our own, relatively brief chapter.”

— Sir David Attenborough

The 50-minute experience combines 24 projectors across four walls and the floor, taking audiences from Earth’s earliest beginnings to a hopeful vision of a future where people and nature thrive together.
